Good Mourning Grief App

Processing Grief in a Healthy & Healing Way

Grief is an experience we are all familiar with, yet a personal and unique journey. Insecurity and social stigmas play a large part in deterring individuals from confronting grief and sorrow in a positive way.

Good Mourning is an interactive app that walks the user through a healthy grieving process and provides understanding guidance. Founded on peer support, compassion, and education, the goal of this suite is to provide multiple outlets that users can connect with in order to process grief.

Visual Design System

Much of our visual direction focused on exemplifying the fluid, layered, and emotional journey of grief through the use of overlapping textures and bright pops of color amidst dark and neutral tones.

Our team also wanted to communicate visually the idea of growth and new beginnings.

When approaching visual scenes and icons, we sought to create friendly, hopeful, and approachable shapes and figures that would translate well to a young, modern demographic while still staying true to our design system.

Website Wireframing & Design

It was important to us that the Good Mourning site work in conjunction with the app, acting as an additional space for subscribers to interact with for resources and subscription management. We had a secondary need for the site to also work as an informational tool for new users.

App Design & User Flow (Tablet)

We wanted users of Good Mourning to interact with the app as a friendly guide, giving the individual feedback the more the user engages. We also considered the reality of processing grief and the need for ease of use and simplicity.

For this iteration, we chose to build out the ‘mood tracking’ feature. We felt this flow was something that everyone could benefit from. This flow exemplifies not only the guiding tone of GM but also shows the apps’ ability to track progress and make recommendations.
