ARMIS: Earthquake Preparedness
Collaborator: Boyu Zhang
Baby Steps, Together
ARMIS is a full range earthquake preparedness campaign designed to meet communities where they’re at and providing resources and volunteer opportunities. Our team created a physical preparedness pack, pocket booklet with preparedness essentials and tips gathered in one place, a website with alerts, resources, how-tos, and community outlets for involvement and education.

Simple and Effective Visuals
Our goal when coming up with a visual direction began with a utilitarian approach. Bold, warm colors were utilized to notate urgency and stand out in various environments. Simple patterns were brought in to add depth to our designs and signify the aid and support our brand provides.
Designing A Preparedness Kit
We wanted to create a physical kit for individuals who might feel overwhelmed by creating one on their own, or may not have the time to purchase or organize in this way.
Our final packaging includes 3 size options depending on household need. We chose to include a handle and slim profile that could be easily stored in a car or closet and carried with ease. These essentials would be enough for a beginner to get started and provide peace of mind for a reasonable cost.

Survival Handbook
We also created a compact, survival handbook (included in our kit and available separately). This was an important step between the physical kit and community online. We were moved to consider the most straight-forward, essential information needed in emergency situations.
Website
No matter the individual involvement level, our goal is to empower the community to work together to keep each other safe, and help provide peace of mind and clarity for those who don’t know where to start.
